Baltimore, MD — Sharday was among Baltimoreans honored at a special brunch this summer for turning their lives around after previously being identified as being at the greatest risk of being engaged in violence.
Today, Sharday has a full-time job and is establishing a positive future for her six children. After serving time and accepting accountability for gun-related convictions, she is working to get her record expunged.
The recognition event was hosted by Youth Advocate Programs (YAP®), Inc., one of Baltimore’s Group Violence Reduction (GVRS) nonprofit service providers. The keynote speaker was Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, who credited GVRS for being a major contributor to the city’s 60% reduction in violence since his administration launched the initiative four years ago.
In this video, Sharday accepts an award from her YAP® Life Coach Jimmy Little. “No more wrong place, wrong time for her,” he said.
